Can you get rich from writing a book?

Do you think it would ever be possible for one of my books to get noticed? I've written a few stories over the years and all my teachers and lecturers have said I'm pretty talented, how would that happen? I mean getting noticed that is and then creating a series of books that would be so awesome! being able to write when I wish and do something I enjoy xxxx
